On October 11, a significant milestone was marked in the life of our seminary community at Collegio Sedes Sapientiae. At 12:45 p.m., during the Eucharistic Benediction held in our college church, Santa Maria Sedes Sapientiae, two of our dear seminarians—Kasun Kandane from the Archdiocese of Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Moses Amoaku from Ghana—took the solemn oath of fidelity and made their profession of faith, formally preparing for their ordination to the Diaconate.
Later that evening, the sacred ordination took place in the magnificent Basilica of St. Apollinare. The rite was presided over by His Eminence Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue and the first Cardinal who is also a proud alumnus of our very own college. His presence added a profound sense of continuity and inspiration to the occasion, linking the past, present, and future of our missionary calling.
The atmosphere throughout the day was one of deep reverence and joy. Witnessing the ordination of Kasun and Moses was not only a moment of grace for them but also a source of encouragement for all of us who walk this same path of formation and service. Their “yes” to God’s call reminded us of our own purpose and the mission that lies ahead.
The celebration continued after the liturgy with a vibrant feast in our college, rich in cultural diversity and joyful expression. Music and performances from Africa, China, and other parts of the world echoed the unity we share in Christ. It was a day of profound thanksgiving and fraternal love—one that will remain etched in our hearts. We extend our warmest congratulations to Deacons Kasun and Moses and assure them of our ongoing prayers as they begin their ministry.
