24 January 2025 was a day of joy for Sedes Sapientiae Seminary, as our former student, Cardinal George Koovakkad, was appointed Prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue by Pope Francis.
As the new prefect, Cardinal Koovakad succeeds Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso Guixot, who passed away on 24 November. In this new service to the Church, Cardinal Koovakkad will use his experience and expertise to promote greater understanding, respect and cooperation between people of different faiths, through a culture of dialogue, peace and harmony in our increasingly interconnected world.
The Sedes Sapientiae Seminary community congratulates Cardinal George on this important occasion. We pray for him as he begins this new chapter of his journey.
