Transmitting the Faith in the 21st Century

“We are made for the infinite. That is why the hearts of children and young people are waiting for a proposal that is equal to their great questions". With these words, Father Maurizio Botta began the course he gave to the second-year seminarians of our College, on catechesis for children and young people.

Today we experience great questions on a human and spiritual level. For this reason, in order to be able to proclaim the Good News, we must have an adequate philosophical and theological formation, as well as a trained ability to transmit concepts and values.

Recalling numerous anecdotes from his long experience as a catechist and communicator, Father Maurizio spoke to us about the situation of young people today and the problems they face, giving us precious indications and theoretical and practical advice that will help us reach the minds and hearts of our listeners.

Born in 1975, Fr Maurizio has been a priest since 2006 and carries out his ministry in the Congregation of the Oratory of San Filippo Neri in Rome, which he joined in 2000 after graduating from Bocconi University in Milan. Prefect of the Secular Oratory, he has been collaborating with the Catechetical Office of the Diocese of Rome for many years. He has published several books on transmitting the faith to children, adolescents and adults.
