DIACONATE ORDINATION
In this difficult time due to the pandemic, the Lord has not failed to make us feel His nearness. Many are the people who have prayed for us and so we have done for them. But last Sunday, 24 May, the grace of the Lord was manifested in a special way. In fact the community of the Sedes Sapientiae, now for more than two months confined within the walls of our College, had the joy of celebrating the deaconal ordination of three of our brothers. Given the emergency situation, in order to protect health, the rite of ordination took place in the internal church of the College, in a family atmosphere with the sole participation of us seminarians.
H.E. Mgr Jorge Carlos Patrón Wong, Secretary for Seminaries of the Congregation for the Clergy, presided at the celebration of Sunday Holy Mass during which Carlos Galdámez of the Archdiocese of San Salvador (El Salvador), Michael Lusato of the Archdiocese of Bunda (Tanzania) and Kingsley Omenyi of the Archdiocese of Onitsha (Nigeria) were ordained.
During the homily, Mgr Patrón Wong invited all and in particular the Ordinants to remember that the vocation we have received is for the service of the Lord and the brothers. He also urged us to consider as a precious treasure the formation we have received during these years of seminary which we must continue to nourish throughout our lives.
It was not possible that the relatives, the many friends, acquaintances and benefactors who would have liked to participate in the ordination were present, but certainly the physical distance did not prevent us from being close in prayer. Thanking the Lord for the grace He has granted our brothers and sisters, we entrust them to the Virgin Mary. Best wishes deacons!
