The Joy of Lent

“Rejoice even in the midst of difficulties and suffering.” These were the striking words at the heart of the homily delivered during the Mass of the Fourth Sunday of Lent, presided over by the Prelate of Opus Dei, Mons. Fernando Ocáriz, during his pastoral and fatherly visit to our college. As the Prelate reminded us, the Lenten season—though marked by fasting and penance—invites us to a deep and genuine joy, a joy highlighted in a special way by the liturgy of Laetare Sunday.
After the Mass, we had a tertulia with the Prelate, during which he personally conveyed his greetings and those of his collaborators. With warm paternal affection, he encouraged us in our journey toward the priesthood, sharing insights drawn from his many years of priestly ministry. The gathering concluded in a festive spirit, enriched by contributions from several of us through music, singing, and instrumental performances.
