Sorrow and Thanksgiving

During the last days of the year we were praying intensely for the health of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, also responding to the request for prayers made to all Christians by Pope Francis. On 31 December, the news of his death reached us through the media. It was a time of sorrow, but also of peace and thanksgiving to the Lord for the generous dedication, persevering work and rich magisterium that the Pope Emeritus left us as a legacy.

In the following days, as soon as it was announced that it was possible, formators and seminarians went to pray before the mortal remains of Benedict XVI and we also participated in the funeral Mass for the eternal repose of his soul, celebrated in St. Peter's Square. In this link you can read the homily delivered by Pope Francis during this Eucharistic celebration.
