Sedes Guest: Dr. Ciappotto

On the 4th of December, we hosted another inspiring edition of the “Sedes Guest” program, welcoming Dr. Ciappotto, artistic name of Iacopo Scascitelli: a dedicated clown doctor and social theater operator, Dr. Ciappotto has spent over eight years collaborating with the Andrea Tudisco Association. His impactful work includes bringing joy and relief to children in nephrology, oncology, and palliative care at hospitals such as Bambino Gesù and Policlinico Gemelli. Beyond his medical clowning, he also teaches at the Scuola di Teatro Popolare in Anagni and mentors young civil service volunteers, highlighting the transformative power of empathy and creativity in his engagements with marginalized communities.

During his talk, Dr. Ciappotto shared his journey of becoming a clown doctor, inspired by the film Patch Adams. He recounted heartfelt stories of working with children battling cancer, illustrating their incredible resilience and strength. His reflections emphasized the importance of compassion, active listening, and human connection. He also highlighted the role of the Andrea Tudisco Association in providing free accommodation to families of children undergoing treatment, demonstrating how communal support can make a difference during challenging times.

The session concluded with a lively Questions and Answers that further showcased Dr. Ciappotto's warmth and dedication. This edition of the Sedes Guest program left us deeply inspired, serving as a profound reminder of the positive impact we can have on others through kindness, empathy, and a genuine appreciation for life’s beauty.
