On 5 July it was 25 years since Pope St. John Paul II erected the Diocese of Požega (Croatia), appointing Mgr Antun Škvorčević as bishop on the same day. On a date close to the anniversary, a group of seminarians from our College, accompanied by the rector, Don Javier Canosa, and the Econome, Don José Huerta, travelled to this Croatian city to participate in the priestly ordination of Karlo Topalović, until recently a student at Sedes Sapientiae. There, as always, we received an exceptional welcome from everyone: first of all from the Bishop, Mgr Antun, who, among other things, showed us and gave us a marvellous explanation of the main works of art that are kept in the cathedral and the diocesan museum. Also from Fr. Jozo, parish priest of St. Leopold Mandić, the parish where Karlo comes from. And the various former students of that diocese who have fond memories of Sedes: Dragan, Krunoslav S., Krunoslav J., Matej, Tomislav, Robert, Marko... It was a great joy to be able to greet them in Rome when they came to Rome a few days later, at the beginning of June, on a pilgrimage of thanksgiving for the diocesan anniversary.
