Open questions on clergy livelihoods

On Wednesday 26 February, Sedes Sapientiae welcomed the Reverend Professor Jean Attila as a guest in the ‘Sedes Guest’ programme. Don Jean, Professor of Canon Law at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, gave a talk on the topic: ‘Economic inequality in the clergy: open questions’. He stressed the importance of the virtue of poverty, underlining that generosity and commitment to living the Gospel are essential in priestly ministry.

The session concluded with a question and answer session, in which the seminarians had the opportunity to ask questions on various issues related to financial management in the dioceses and the various modalities of support for the clergy. Drawing on his extensive experience in both pastoral work and legal studies, Prof. Attila emphasised the crucial role of the bishops and the importance of priestly fraternity in order to live the relationship with material goods in a proper way.
