The world unites in prayer for Pope Francis, who continues to recover from double pneumonia at Rome's Gemelli hospital. The 88-year-old pontiff, who has a history of chronic lung problems, has been under medical care since 14 February. Although his condition is described as ‘complex’, Vatican officials report slight improvements, with the Pope resting peacefully and responding well to treatments. In St Peter's Square, hundreds of faithful gather each evening to pray the Rosary, led by cardinals and bishops.
On 3 March, we united in a special way in prayer for Pope Francis, offering Mass ‘for the Pope’, with the intention of his speedy recovery. The Eucharist, celebrated with solemnity and devotion, reflected the seminary's deep connection with the Pope and its commitment to support him through prayer. Being in Rome, we have in some ways a greater sense of duty to intercede for Pope Francis, as we are physically close to the Holy Father. This proximity increases our responsibility to sustain him in prayer and spiritual support during this critical time. In addition, each day, in the Prayer of the Faithful at Holy Mass and in the Liturgy of the Hours, seminarians continue to pray fervently for his recovery, embodying the Church's commitment to raise up a constant and heartfelt intercession for the Roman Pontiff.
