On October 9, we had the great honour of welcoming Don Giovanni Emidio Palaia – a Catholic priest, philosopher, writer, and professor at LUMSA University in Rome. Don Palaia is known for promoting the connection between faith, culture, and society. One of his most important missions is spreading the message and legacy of St. Carlo Acutis.
During his visit, Don Palaia shared many touching and personal stories about St. Carlo Acutis that are not widely known. From a very young age, Carlo showed a deep interest in God. At only five years old, he asked to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion and began reading the Bible, which he underlined carefully. He attended daily Eucharistic Adoration and later became a catechist to share his faith with others. Even at school, he defended the teachings of the Church without fear. He was humble, generous, and lived his faith with great love and joy.
Don Palaia also spoke about Carlo’s strong belief in the Eucharist. Carlo wanted others to understand its importance, so he created a website displaying Eucharistic miracles from around the world. He believed that bringing people closer to God was the most beautiful thing one could do. Don Palaia’s talk was full of wisdom, kindness, and inspiration, reminding us of the beauty that comes from living our faith every day.
