On 15th November, Son Lam Hoang, an alumnus of Sedes, was ordained to the diaconate alongside nineteen other seminarians in a solemn ceremony celebrated by bishop John Baptist Nguyễn Huy Bắc. The ordination took place at Sacred Heart Cathedral (Nhà Thờ Chình Toà Thánh Tâm Chúa Giêsu), the heart of the Diocese of Ban Mê Thuôt (Vietnam).
The Diocese of Ban Mê Thuôt is home to 468,836 Catholics served by 118 parishes. It is a testament to the dynamic spiritual life in the area, supported by a dedicated clergy and religious communities, including 233 priests (189 diocesan and 44 religious), 983 religious (114 brothers and 869 sisters), and 129 seminarians actively engaged in vocational training and service.
The diaconate is a significant step in each seminarian's journey, as deacons are called to serve the Church in ministry, charity, and the proclamation of the Word. For Son Lam Hoang and his fellow deacons, this ordination signifies a deepening of their commitment to serve God and His people.
