On October 6th, we held a joyful inauguration ceremony for the new college academic and formative year. The event was honored by the presence of Rev. Dr. Sergio Tapia, Rector of the College, along with distinguished guests from CUIR: President Elvio Covino, Vice President Gian Luca Giovannucci, and Director of Cultural and Formative Activities, Federico Cavalli. The gathering offered a moment of reflection on the mission of the College and an opportunity to share plans for the upcoming academic and cultural programs.
President Elvio Covino explained the nature and mission of CUIR (Collegio Universitario Internazionale di Roma), a non-profit institution recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education. Founded by Italian professionals and international partners, CUIR aims to support the holistic development of university students—culturally, intellectually, and spiritually. The goal is to create a welcoming environment where academic excellence goes hand-in-hand with personal growth and community service. The CUIR’s long-standing partnership with Sedes Sapientiae supports the priestly formation through high-quality academic and human formation.
Looking ahead, CUIR announced several initiatives for the 2025–2026 academic year, including monthly academic and cultural events, historical-artistic outings in Rome, and educational conferences at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross. Other programs include soft skills development, language courses, international volunteering, and a mobility program with LUMSA University. Students are encouraged to actively engage, propose new ideas, and help create a vibrant, collaborative community that enhances both the academic and spiritual life of the College.
