Greetings from the Pope Emeritus!

At the end of September, our college was joyfully honoured by the presence of His Grace, Most. Rev. Georg Gänswein, the Titular Archbishop of Urbs Salvia and the Prefect of the Papal Household. Mons. Georg was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Freiburg on 31 May, 1984.

He entered the Roman Curia as an official of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments in 1995 and later joined the staff of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith in 1996. In 2003, he became the personal secretary of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI (then Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger), a position he has maintained until this moment. On 7 December 2012, he was appointed Prefect of the Pontifical Household and was consecrated bishop on 6 January 2013 by Pope Benedict. He was also a professor of canon law at Pontifical University of the Holy Cross, Rome.

Occasioned by the curiosity of the seminarians, he gave some important insights about the situation and activities of the Pope Emeritus. After having also spoken on some other ecclesiastical matters, he offered the seminarians some words of encouragement in their journey to the priesthood. He concluded by offering to all present his blessing.
