On this blessed day, marked by the solemnity and radiance of the glorious Cross, the community of Collegio Sedes Sapientiae gathered in an atmosphere of deep prayer and reflection. On September 14, we celebrated Vespers with fervor, followed by a time of Adoration filled with silence and contemplation. This liturgical moment, led by the Rector, invited us to enter into the mystery of salvation and meditate on the boundless love of Christ revealed in the total gift of His life.
The Cross, often seen as a symbol of suffering, becomes on this day a sign of victory, redemption, and peace. It reminds us that Christ’s path leads through surrender, fidelity, and hope. In the dim light of the church, illuminated by candlelight, the Rector’s words echoed as an invitation to embrace our own cross with trust, in the light of the Lord’s.
The highlight of the celebration was the blessing with the relic of the Holy Cross. Each seminarian approached with humility to kiss the relic, a simple yet profound gesture expressing gratitude, faith, and personal commitment. That kiss upon the sacred wood became a silent prayer, an act of love toward the One who gave His life for us.
Throughout the history of the Church, the Cross has always been a source of strength and consolation. It spans the centuries like a beacon in the night, guiding souls toward truth and life. As one Church Father wrote:
“It is not the wood that saves, but the love that hung upon it.”
May this feast rekindle in each of us the desire to follow Christ with courage, to carry our cross with joy, and to bear witness through our lives, to the transformative power of crucified love.
