On the occasion of the commemoration of all the faithful departed on 2 November, we offered the Mass in our College for our deceased relatives, friends and benefactors. In addition, the Mexican community shared with us two traditions that are deeply rooted in that country during these dates: the first, an ‘altar of the dead’, in which loved ones are remembered, commending them to the Lord through the intercession of the saints; and the second, some amusing ‘calaveritas literarias’, poetic compositions that are sung with guitar accompaniment and which also have a humorous aspect.
