On Tuesday, 11 September the seminary community had a session with don Nicolò Ceccolini, the chaplain of the juvenile prison of Rome. He is a priest of the priestly fraternity of St Charles Borromeo and a former student of the university of Holy Cross. A young, vibrant Italian priest, don Nicolò dedicates all his time for his ministry with youth of the prison and ministry for the children and youngsters of the street. He began his association with the ministry in juvenile prison, when he went there for weekly visits as a seminarian. Then soon after his sacerdotal ordination, he became the vice chaplain and later on the chaplain of the prison for minors in Rome.
Don Nicolò explained the nature of his ministry and the reality of the situation of the prison. He shared the wonderful incidents he had in his ministry and how a pastoral figure in the prison changes the life of the youngsters. Also, he gave us an idea of the prisons and minors in Italy and the apostolate for them. He was also accompanied by deacon Simone Moretti, who explained about his new ministry for youth in an underdeveloped zone of Rome.
Seminarians found the session with don Nicolò an opening to a diverse pastoral reality which is challenging and at the same time a necessity in the present world.
