August. First group of new seminarians came to Sedes Sapientiae from their countries. They began the Italian Course, an essential part of their studies. Rome, the Eternal City, provided the perfect backdrop for these seminarians to explore and discover its hidden gems. They roamed the city, visiting iconic places like the the Basilica of St Lawrence Outside the Walls, the Basilica of St Mary Major, the Sanctuary of Divine Love, St Paul Outside the Walls and the church of St Paul at the Three Fountains, Subiaco, the Vatican Museums, etc. There were also entertaining moments and recreational activities, such as BBQ & Songs, Musical Moment, swimming, and five-a-side football, which helped them bond and relax.
A particularly privileged moment was Monday 5 August, when they were able to participate in the solemn vespers on the feast of the Dedication of St. Mary Major, also known as the feast of Our Lady of the Snows. The ceremony was presided over by none other than Pope Francis. It was a unique occasion to feel very close to the Vicar of Christ and to pray intensely for his person and intentions.
