Admission to Holy Orders

On Sunday, 1 December, the Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders was celebrated for a group of seminarians of the college. This significant rite is an important step for each seminarian on his journey toward the priesthood. The rite is an opportunity for a seminarian to express publicly his intention to receive the sacrament of Holy Orders as a deacon and later as a priest, as well as his commitment to deepening his formation in prayer and service. The Mass, presided over by Mons. Mariano Fazio, auxiliary vicar of the Prelature of Opus Dei, was a spiritually profound event.

In his homily, don Mariano reflected on themes of vigilance, unity, and spiritual preparation, emphasizing the need to live in readiness for Christ’s coming. Drawing on the Advent season, he urged the faithful to embrace renewal in anticipation of both Christmas and the Jubilee Year. He encouraged perseverance in responding to God’s call and highlighted the Virgin Mary as a model of humility and service, inspiring believers to align their lives with God’s will.

After the Mass, don Mariano engaged in a conversation with seminarians and formators, sharing personal reflections and experiences, including anecdotes about Pope Francis. He highlighted the universal nature of the Church and the privilege of formation in Rome. Some newly admitted candidates also shared their vocation stories, which inspired those present. A question-and-answer session followed, providing further insight into vocational discernment and priestly formation. The event concluded with don Mariano urging the seminarians to embody approachability and generosity in their ministry, leaving a lasting impression through his practical advice and spiritual encouragement.
