A New Deacon: Siyabulela

Our dear brother Siyabulela Zolile Mthembu, a former member of our college community, was ordained to the diaconate on February 22, 2025, at St. Benedict's Cathedral in Eshowe by His Eminence Cardinal Wilfrid Napier. This milestone brings great joy not only to Siyabulela but also to all who have walked alongside him during his formation. Rev. Siyabulela completed his bachelor's degree in theology last year before returning to his home diocese to continue his formation and pastoral ministry.
The Diocese of Eshowe, located in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, serves a catholic population of approximately 82,000 individuals. The diocese comprises 35 parishes and is supported by 58 priests (43 diocesan and 15 religious), 139 religious (29 brothers and 110 sisters), and 6 seminarians, reflecting ongoing efforts to nurture future clergy.
For us, Siyabulela’s ordination is a joyful occasion that reflects the power of shared faith and the importance of community. As he steps into this new role, we stand with him in prayer, knowing his ministry will touch many lives.
