In the thirteenth edition of the Clericus Cup, Sedes Sapientiae got its best result ever: second place after losing the final. An equal match worth more than the result, against the Urban College, to whom we congratulate for their well-deserved victory. In addition to the second place for the team, we have achieved the awards to the best coach (Don José Huerta), best scorer, i.e. top scorer (Rev. Deogratias Nyamwihula) and best goalkeeper (Patrick Anasenchor). If there is indeed a prize for the most enthusiastic, more persevering and more cheering fans; it surely would have been ours.
For the seminarians of Sedes, this Clericus Cup was a wonderful tournament, a chance for fraternity with companions, priests and seminarians, of other colleges as well as to practice sport and learn to live and spread the Gospel ever better in every circumstance, even while in the field of play, whether you win easily or find difficulties. In fact, while other games may be considered simply games (at least one or two, frankly speaking) others remain complicated, against tough opponents and graduates, such as Redemptoris Mater or North American College. We played at times under the sun and a beautiful blue sky and others instead under flood. There have been arbitration decisions or errors of its own easier than to accept and others much less. In short, football, sport, life...
At this point we would like to thank the CSI, in person and its president Vittorio Bosio and his ecclesiastical counsellor Don Alessio Albertini, to make this event possible every year. Our gratitude also goes to the teams we have dealt with this year, which have always had an attitude of sportsmanship and vigour; to the arbitration teams, which we have always seen want to do the best possible in their difficult task; to many ancient pupils and parishioners of the places where we help in pastoral work, which have sent us messages or even videos of encouragement before the most decisive matches. And finally a very special gratitude deserve Felice Alborghetti and Armando Cortese, the souls of this competition and every year are shown available and very close to all sixteen teams, with great patience, an understanding we could say artisan and an excellent organizational capacity. Both of them and their team collaborators goes one of our heard: thank you!
