14 New Candidates to the Priesthood

On the occasion of the second Sunday of Advent, on December 10, the Holy Mass in the chapel of the seminary was celebrated with the Rite of Admission to the candidates for the Holy Orders, with 14 seminarians from 10 countries (Switzerland, Peru, El Salvador, Philippines , Nigeria, Mexico, Tanzania, Venezuela, South Africa and Haiti).

The Mass and the Rite of Admission were presided by Mgr. Fernando Ocáriz, prelate of Opus Dei. In his homily, starting from the words of the prophet Isaiah "Prepare the way for the Lord, make smooth in the desert a highway for our God. " (Is 40, 3), he invited us to express in our lives the will to conversion and the hope of new times, so as to be able to prepare ourselves seriously for the coming of our Lord. He also recalled that Jesus came and continues to come, through the sacraments, to serve and this is the model of generous service to others for the love of God that must characterize the life of every priest.

After the Holy Mass, we had a brief but ardent encounter in the Salone Grande of the seminary, in which Msgr. Ocáriz answered some questions regarding the life of the Church, love for the Pope, the importance of prayer and the main cultural challenges encountered in the new evangelization. Before leaving, he blessed us, wishing us a blessed Christmas and assuring us of his prayer for us all.
