A Month of Intensive Formation
The end of September also brings with it the end of the practical course on liturgy and pastoral care, organized each year by the College. Many guests and themes have been discussed in recent weeks. In addition to the pleasure of discovering the splendid basilicas of Saint Mary Major and Saint Praxedes led by the Missionary Sisters of Divine Revelation, we met Fr Pier Fausto Frisoli SDB, General Salesian Procurator, who on the basis of this great experience spoke to us about the potential and the dangers of the network and social media. Fr. Francesco Bamonte, president of the International Exorcists Association, spoke to us on fundamental questions of demonology. Doctor Marco Quintilliani, a psychiatrist, offered us a general overview of his speciality. The interventions of Dr. Mariolina Ceriotti Migliarese, child neuropsychiatrist and psychotherapist, who spoke of paternity and masculinity and of father Amedeo Cencini, who turned out to be very attached to the human dimension of the priest and to the support that psychology can provide to our training. He later presented a report on the subject of formation as a dynamic reality in various stages of life and stressed the need to form sensitivities. With his visit to the College, His Excellency George Ganswein, prefect of the Pontifical Household, offered us a glimpse into the life of Pope Francis and the Pope Emeritus Benedict seen from the inside. Also Mother Rebecca, superior of the Missionaries of Divine Revelation, with her visit gave us a particular point of view on the figure of the priest, talking about the expectations that the religious have towards the priests. Finally a distinguished canonist, His Excellency Juan Ignacio Arrieta, secretary of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, guided us to discover the organization of the Roman Curia. Together with these guests, other professors took turns in the lectures to explore topics such as homiletics today, spiritual direction, the study of documents of the Magisterium and several others.
